Abstract (Document Summary)

Players and coaches did a marvellous job. Hamilton, doormats of the CFL last season with a 3-15 record, defeated Calgary and B.C. in the preseason on a combination of tough, old-time Ticat defence and improved quarterbacking.

[Jason Riley], 33, was with the Tiger-Cats when they won their last Grey Cup in 1986. He played in 1989 when Hamilton barely lost in the CFL championship game.

The offence is choregraphed by quarterbacks Damon Allen and Don McPherson, both ideally suited to the wide-open Canadian game. Allen has the experience of seven CFL seasons with Edmonton and Ottawa.
