Earth Machines
[Final Edition]

Artist Kim Adams' Earth Machines, an installation at Oakville's Gairloch Galleries, takes the bizarre nature of life on this planet and tosses it back to us in playful HO model scale of 1:87. No wonder the tightrope walker at the circus has flipped and hangs upside down. Whether Adams planned the lost balance is irrelevant: the feeling of order gone awry is merely heightened. In Pittsburgh, Adams was almost run out of town by an elderly woman and her muscle-shirted son when he refused to give her one of the gifts -- a Zip-Lock bagged tennis ball.
