As director of operations at MCA Manufacturing Corp.'s record and tape plant in Gloversville, N.Y., [Michael Hornung] runs one of the few remaining plants in the United States that manufacture vinyl records. The Gloversville plant is the only place in United Ststes where MCA makes vinyl records, which account for 20 per cent of U.S. music recording sales, Hornung says. He said it might be the only place in the United States where 45s are still made. Meanwhile, MCA's Hornung says the Gloversville factory will continue to make seven-inch and 12-inch vinyl records as long as there's demand for them.
