Officer shot from Mohawk gunmen's location in pines
[Final Edition]

The sniper fired at a point on Cpl. Lemay's left side below the armpit, an area not covered by the officer's bullet-proof vest. The bullet's point of entry and other evidence means the shooter must have been in the pine woods where Mohawks held fortified positions, said Mr. [Guy Gilbert], whose inquest lasted 128 days over 18 months and heard from 125 witnesses. The type of round that killed Cpl. [Marcel Lemay] is manufactured for military sharpshooters and couldn't have been stopped by Cpl. Lemay's bullet-proof vest, Mr. Gilbert wrote. "The simple fact that the shooter chose this kind of ammunition attests to his intention to use it for what it was intended: when his target wasn't moving and was in the open."
