[David Orlikow] said yesterday his wife is "very upset and she's very angry. She has expected and received the worst possible treatment and assistance from the Canadian government" since the Cameron-CIA link first was made public in 1977. "It's an out and out whitewash," the Winnipeg New Democrat continued. "It's an apology for the CIA and the Canadian government. [George Cooper] shouldn't have to send a bill to the CIA for services rendered, they should pay him before he asks." The report says even though Canada knew nothing of the CIA connection, the government did spend about $70,000 on [Ewen Cameron]'s research but "did not know and could not know of any ulterior motives on Cameron's part." Cooper says the CIA funded Cameron's work between 1957 and 1962 by funnelling $84,820 to him through a front organization known as the Society for the Investigation of Human Ecology.
