TOKYO - Shintaro Abe, secretary-general of the governing Liberal Democratic party, says the government will use its majority in the Diet to push through a budget, even if the opposition parties boycott the debate. * The Recruit affair, which makes every MP suspect as a possible recipient of largesse from that overly generous company. The public suspects that Recruit was buying support for its business activities when it transferred unlisted stock to several hundred politicians at bargain prices. The shares were later sold for big profits, which were tax free as capital gains. The arrested youths are aged 17 and 18. With five other youths, they are alleged to have snatched [Junko Furuta] off a street in Misato on Nov. 25 and taken her to a house belonging to two of them in Tokyo's Adachi ward.
