Thousands of Tim Horton's fans (Tim Horton Donuts is the biggest doughnut company in Canada, with about 525 franchises and still counting) can't all be wrong. They keep 260 doughnut shops hopping day and night around Ontario, swigging the company's famous coffee and munching, among other goodies, the chain's two most popular doughnuts - the dutchie and the apple fritter. Patti Jamieson is manager of corporate communications for Tim Horton's. "We're shocked," she told me the day the doughnut article appeared. "We're all wondering what could possibly have gone wrong. Customers have been coming in angrily waving that article. Someone even suggested the doughnuts in the taste test must have got mixed up." After Horton's death, the company started up the [Tim Horton] Children's Foundation - a charity that operates summer camps for underprivileged children. Today, for 24 hours, Tim Horton's outlets from coast to coast will donate all monies from coffee sales to the foundation. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
