OHL vs. WHL in inter-league junior hockey tilt ; All about bragging rights tonight

"I bumped into some of them (WHL players) Monday night. They didn't seem to want to have anything to do with us," said OHL all- star Greg Jacina, a Guelph native and second-year forward with the Owen Sound Attack. "There's a pride issue here. You don't want to go home the loser." The WHL team features four first-round NHL draft picks, two players from the Czech Republic's world junior championship gold medal team and three from the bronze medallist Canadian team and three of the top four scorers in the league. Also on the WHL roster is Medicine Hat Tigers defenceman Jay Bouwmeester, projected as the first overall pick for the 2002 NHL draft. The one drawback of this format is the extra travel for the WHL players. After playing in tonight's game, the WHL all-stars will fly home and resume their league schedule Friday. The QMJHL all-stars face the same situation next week. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner. Further reproduction or distribution is prohibited without permission.
