Charlize Theron even irresistible when dying; Keanu Reeves' career may be on same route

Lovely Charlize Theron seems the perfect antidote for uptight, workaholic [Keanu Reeves]' driven ad executive (work with me on this). She charmingly worms her way into Reeves' life -- and heart -- while he is totally unaware that the month she promises to give him unconditionally may be her last on earth. Anyway, Theron -- who must get plenty of scripts with Cameron Diaz's fingerprints on them -- is up to the part even while the moviegoing public remains firmly divided on Reeves. Hatari! and The Shootist (Paramount) -- Two John Wayne milestones get the digital, widescreen treatment. In 1962, Wayne, director Howard Hawks and gang headed off to East Africa to film this rambling and now-politically incorrect tale of a big-game hunter who traps wild animals for zoos. At 158 minutes, this is the original version of an adventure-comedy that's had various lengths over the years. The opening rhino chase, synched to Henry Mancini's thrilling score, inspired the round-up scene in Steven Spielberg's Lost World: Jurassic Park. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
