A voice of dissent lost in high noon din
[ONT Edition]

Toronto, Ont.
That left it to [Paul Lewin] and a small group of supporters wearing T- shirts with the logo, "MOR 4 TO," with "Province of Toronto" across the top and "Yours to Recover" along the bottom. On the back of the T-shirt was this "Vote Paul Lewin for Mayor. Free 416." Candidate Barbara Hall had one of her campaign workers distribute her news release calling on Toronto voters to pressure the provincial candidates to deliver a new fiscal deal for Toronto. But she isn't there personally to confront the source of Toronto's disenchantment. Provincial subsidy for each Toronto student is about $1,500 less than for students in the 905 area code and the rest of Toronto. Despite this, Toronto homeowners contributed an extra $18.7 million to provincial education funding this year, on top of the normal amount, and solely because property values in Toronto rose higher than the rest of the province.
