[Final Edition]

Toronto, Ont.
Company executives said the local studio will be teamed with Disney's new Vancouver operation - also to be launched in January - to produce feature-length cartoons that bypass theatres and go straight to video. Lenora Hume, vice-president of international production for Disney's TV animation division, estimated a total of 200 jobs will be created in the two studios for hand-drawn and computer animators, designers and other artists. Hume said two studios are being created simultaneously to take advantage of Vancouver's growing animation industry and to avoid draining the Toronto talent pool in one swoop.
