Guelph, Ont.
It was usually a homeless person, one who had been lucky enough to shake the hand of young Scott Marshall. That hand led them from the cold lonely streets of Guelph to a warm brick home on Speedvale Avenue. The 16-year-old Grade 11 student at Guelph Collegiate and Vocational Institute died Saturday from injuries he received Aug. 14, when he was hit by a vehicle on Speedvale Avenue, near Elmira Road. Marshall was riding his bike home from a friend's house during the massive blackout in Ontario that night. It was 10:34 p.m., and Scott's bicycle did not have a light on it. He was not wearing a helmet. Marshall and the family are issuing an open invitation to those who want to join them in a "celebration of Scott's life." The service will take place on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Parkview Church at 89 Speedvale Avenue East. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
