Abstract (Document Summary)
Robert "Red" Stevens and Arthur Gilmore were indicted last summer on bribery and racketeering charges, and the trial for the two men began last week in federal court in Monroe. Federal prosecutors claim Stevens and Gilmore attempted to extract bribes of approximately $8,700 in cash, land considerations and "other things of present and prospective value" in exchange for decisions that benefitted Hakim's business before the council.
