Batson described the scene as "utter chaos," adding that people scattered and attempted to leave, with hundreds stuck on High Point Road. "Because of the hard work of our team, along with patrol officers, Tennessee Highway Patrol and Clarksville Police Department, we were able to secure the area, interview hundreds of witnesses and gain the information we needed."
