Abstract (Document Summary)
Uncertain future No one knows for sure yet whether state officials will choose Cumberland County to hold the 1,100 inmates expected to be moved when Riverfront Prison in Camden is closed and the land sold to developers, but the county is said to be a prime target for a fourth state penitentiary. Local public officials also await a decision by the state Department of Corrections on whether to add a separate unit for about 350 sex offenders to one of the three existing prisons here.
