Abstract (Document Summary)
William Lucas, a CSUMB student who said he will receive his diploma in May, sat on the carpeted floor of the administrative building holding a sign that read, "Free, Accessible and Quality Education For All Students!" Lucas transferred from the community college system to CSUMB in 2008 as a linguistics major, but said he was forced to change his major to entrepreneurial business because of the lack of language class offerings. Faculty leaders say the cuts threaten to reduce student access to the CSU -- a key educational institution which serves large numbers of low-income students, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college.\n
