Six Florida college players were named Sunday to the 26-man roster of Team USA after a week of Olympic Baseball Trials.
The six are: Florida State's Chris Roberts and Tim Davis, Florida's Marc Valdes, Miami's Jeff Alkire and Charles Johnson and North Florida's Sid Roberson.
Valdes, a sophomore from Tampa's Jesuit High, was one of 11 pitchers selected. Valdes said he got word he made the 26-man team Saturday from Miami coach Brad Kelley, who is serving as Team USA's pitching coach. Valdes said he wasn't that surprised at the news.
