Abstract (Document Summary)

TAMPA - Regional malls planned for Brandon and northwest Hillsborough County are proceeding despite this week's bankruptcy court filing by the owner of two proposed anchor stores, the developer said Tuesday.

Maas Brothers/Jordan Marsh and Burdines were expected to open department stores in the proposed Brandon Town Center and Citrus Park mall, said Myles O'Connor, vice president of JMB/Urban Development Co. in Tampa, a partner in both projects.

But O'Connor, who has been working on the two malls for several years, said he believes the projects will be built even without the two major stores. ``Both of those malls have the ability for six department stores,`` he said. The bankruptcy filing ``is really taking only two in this area.``
