I read where Ricardo Montalban again will speak for Chrysler Motors Corp. He will pitch that ``fine Corinthian leather.`` I assume Corinthian is a brand name. What animal furnishes the skin? Thank you. G.C. Hetterich
Response: Corinthian leather is Chrysler's trade name for a blend of leather and vinyl developed for its luxury cars. The combination provides the plush qualities of leather while eliminating the care required by the real thing.
If Tom Jakobowski, public relations manager, can identify the animal that provides the hide, he's not telling. Most leather is made from cattle skins. Corinthian, of course, is an extension of Corinth, one of the most important cities of ancient Greece, noted for its high living.
