Free-agent wing David Matsos, who played for the silver-medal winning Canadian national team during the recent World Championships, signed a multiyear contract Thursday with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

"David played very well in the tournament," said Lightning head scout Don Murdoch, who was in Vienna for the championships. "He played against some of the best players in the world, so he showed me he could play."
