Aetna Life Insurance Co. has filed a lawsuit seeking to foreclose on a $16.4-million mortgage it holds on the mall. The lawsuit filed Tuesday in Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Court is against Bay Area Mall LLC, a company that acquired the mall in December 1995.
After the foreclosure, Aetna, based in Connecticut, plans to keep the mall and run it using the same leasing agents and managers, said Aetna attorney Ronald Kriss of Miami.
