Fort Lauderdale's Dave Edgar will finally get the overdue recognition he deserves when he is inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

Edgar, the 1972 Olympic gold medalist and once the world's greatest short course freestyle sprinter, will be honored May 9-11 in Fort Lauderdale.

Other honorees to be inducted: swimmers Duncan Armstrong and Gail Neall of Australia, Tiffany Cohen, Ardeth Mueller, Ray Taft and Matt Vogel of the U.S.; divers Sylvie Bernier of Canada and Frank Dempsey of the U.S.; open water swimmer Penny Dean of the U.S.; water polo player Istvan Szivos Jr. of Hungary; coach Laurie Lawrence of Australia; and contributors Dawn Pawson Bean of the U.S. and Bela Rajki of Hungary.
