[DJ Tony Moran] was a standard-issue mobile DJ playing for pay at various events. But in 1981, when he and musical partner Albert Cabrera began making witty audio splices of contemporary hits, people outside DJ-dom took notice. Moran and Cabrera as the Latin Rascals were getting their hybrid tracks played on New York radio. Record labels and artists soon came calling, and not just for help with dance tracks. The duo secured prestigious remix and song-edit assignments from Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones, Run- DMC, Madonna, Grace Jones and U2, among others.
