[Broward Metro Edition]

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
A larger study, also part of the massive 15-year Women's Health Initiative, was halted early in July 2002, after researchers determined women using a combination pill containing estrogen and progestin showed a slight increase in the risk of invasive breast cancer, heart attack, stroke and blood clots. A sub-study also found a slight increase in dementia. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner. Further reproduction or distribution is prohibited without permission.
