"Redistricting is a political process, but the bipartisan committee showed to Oregonians that thoughtful compromise is possible," said Janice Thompson, its executive director, who tracked it closely. If it withstands potential legal challenges in the Oregon Supreme Court, the redistricting plan would be the first to stand since the 1960s, when the U.S. Supreme Court issued a series of decisions requiring equal populations among districts.
