WARREN, Gail S. Gail S. Warren, MSW, ACSW, lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at the age of 49. Ms. Warren received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Dominican College, New York, in 1982, and then went on to earn a Master of Social Work from Fordham University in 1983. While in New York, she was employed by the Department of Adult Protective Services, by St. Agatha Home for Children, and by Helen Hayes Rehabilitation Hospital. She then moved to Baltimore where she was a senior social worker at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister, Ms. Warren tirelessly served the community of St. Petersburg since her arrival here in 1991. She had been a social worker at Bayfront Medical Center, then at Gulf Coast Family Services where she set up a widow/widower support group, an agency enrichment program to match volunteers with home-bound elderly, and chaired an advisory committee overseeing grants for Holocaust survivors. She has worked as Director of Volunteer Services for Menorah Manor in St. Petersburg since 2001. Ms. Warren has been on the Executive Board of Directors as well as first vice-president for Congregation B'nai Israel, and was scheduled to assume the presidency there when she became ill. She has been a member of the Board of the Jewish Federation, and has been co-president of the St. Petersburg chapter of Hadassah, where she has been selected as the National Young Leader Representative for the central Florida region. She was one of 25 people nationwide appointed to attend the Young Leaders mission to Israel in 1997. She was the 2007 winner of the Edward N. Ludin Young Leadership award. Ms. Warren's philanthropic accomplishments include being a member of the Maimonides Society of the Jewish Federation, a Pacesetter in the Federation Women's Division, a Keeper of the Gate for Hadassah, and a member of the King David Society for Israel Bonds. Ms. Warren loved to travel, especially on family cruises, and was an avid reader, competitive mahjong player, and was committed to physical fitness, as exemplified by her participation in the sixty mile walk for breast cancer awareness. She is survived by her devoted husband of twenty years, Dr. Steven Warren, as well as her two adoring children, Allison and [Michael Murray]. She is also survived by her father, Mr. Eli Bresinger, and her brother, Mr. Charles Bresinger. She is also treasured by loving in-laws and a countless number of extended family members, as well as by dear friends. Gail was preceded in death by her beloved mother Annette Bresinger. She has touched so many lives through her selfless community service. Services will be 10 am Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Congregation B'nai Israel, 300 58th Street North, St. Petersburg. Burial will follow in Royal Palm Cemetery-South. Contributions in Ms. Warren's memory can be made to Congregation B'nai Israel or to Menorah Manor. Online guestbook at davidcgross.com David C.
