Abstract (Document Summary)

Mr [McConnell] conceded that delays for outpatients had been "very poor indeed" because of an early decision to concentrate efforts on inpatients who had been waiting the longest time.

Mr McConnell insisted: "The reality, as was published by the Health Service Statistics Division just two weeks ago, is that outpatient waiting times are now finally coming down in Scotland . . . If Miss [Nicola Sturgeon] disbelieves the figures published just two weeks ago, then she is seriously questioning something about those independent statisticians."
