Abstract (Document Summary)

aTHE ultimate irony of the most glorious two days in British cycling history is that Edinburgh's velodrome, which nurtured the Scottish two-thirds of the Olympic sprint cycling team which won silver here in Sydney yesterday, almost killed the English third, gold medal hero Jason Queally.

Chris Hoy and Craig Maclean, both members of the City of Edinburgh cycling club, and Queally, from Lancaster, rode the three tremendous races , but were edged out by France in the final.
