The move comes less than a week after the Scottish Retail Consortium revealed there were 24 recorded incidents of verbal abuse, physical violence or threats of violence for every 1000 shop staff in Scotland. The body revealed that retail crime, including crime prevention in Scotland, cost shop owners (pounds) 166million last year with shoplifters escaping with (pounds) 54m of goods - (pounds) 28m of that total stolen in Glasgow.
