Economic development * Reno City Council in approved about $73 million in municipal tax breaks over the next decade to bring Apple to Northern Nevada. * Combined with state tax cuts, Apple will receive about $89 million in breaks over the next 10 years, a 79 percent reduction in its tax burden that will includes an effective sales tax rate of less than 1 percent. * A data center planned for east of Sparks is projected to eventually result in 41 full-time jobs, 200 long-term contractor jobs and about 580 construction jobs on top of an expected $343 million of economic activity.
