Abstract (Document Summary)

On June 10, [Everett D. Dunn] and [Gilbert J. Blais] returned to Rhode Island in handcuffs, having been arrested by the state police on charges stemming from the alleged misappropriation. Dunn, 55, was charged with embezzlement. Blais, 57, was charged with aiding and abetting a crime and with receiving stolen goods.

Confident that he would catch up with Dunn, [Michael Douglas] got the Ethics Commission to extend the time in which Dunn could be pursued for failing to file his 2003 and 2004 financial statements.

After Dunn was arrested, Douglas contacted Jeffrey B. Pine, the former state attorney general representing Dunn as a defense lawyer.
