Abstract (Document Summary)

At a concessions table just outside the ballroom, Lori Coppolino reported brisk sales in $10 "No Mercy" hats, $8 "Simply Marvelous" hats, $12 "Mavelous [Marvin Hagler]" T-shirts and $5 "Marvelous Marvin" posters. Some people asked for Sugar Ray hats and shirts, but there weren't any. Marvelous was the hometown favorite.

"A long time ago when I was an amateur fighting out of Grundy's gym in Central Falls, we'd go to the Petronellis' gym and we'd see Marvin working," said Peter Graham, a salesman from East Providence who sparred with Hagler. "And I always admired his power. And he knew how to train. When we'd train, he'd run six miles backward."

[George Sheehan] and Graham stayed at their table. Sheehan said [Leonard] ran from Hagler and the decision was stupid. Graham said a challenger has to take the title away and Leonard didn't do it.
