TV: The next generation -- Head of LIN TV in Providence looks ahead
Providence Journal - Bulletin

Providence, R.I.
DISNEY IS BUYING ABC. Westinghouse is buying CBS. Time Warner is buying Ted Turner's media company, including the Cable News Network. Merger mania is sweeping the television industry. The frenzy is of great interest to Gary R. Chapman, president of Providence-based LIN Television Corp. Though not quite a media giant, LIN TV is the 18th largest television group in the country, according to Broadcast & Cable magazine, with its eight stations reaching about 6.4 percent of the U.S. market. Until last Dec. 28th, LIN TV was a division of LIN Broadcasting Corp. But the shareholders of that company decided it was best to spin LIN TV off into a separate company.
