Pell kicks off Senate campaign

Pell's reelection campaign effort has seemed all but invisible, with the senator tending to Senate business and fund-raising instead of pounding the pavements in search of votes. Pell acknowledged his campaign's late start this morning. Pell is perhaps best known for his work as chairman of the Senate's education subcommittee, where he wrote the laws creating the Pell Grant program. He noted that more than 160,000 grants have gone to Rhode Islanders.
