While William B. Stanley tries to build grass-roots support for an international airport in Connecticut near the Foster, R.I., border, a Bryant College economics professor is single-handedly trying to stir up interest in building an international airport near Tippecansett Pond, on the Connecticut border with Exeter and West Greenwich.

[William B. Sweeney] said he was unaware that Stanley has revived his 20-year-old proposal for an airport that would be less than 20 miles north of the Tippecansett site. If Stanley's proposal flies, "mine would be redundant" Sweeney said.
