Abstract (Document Summary)

After two months of dealing with the huge headaches created by the domestic violence case of leftfielder Wilfredo Cordero, the Boston Red Sox found themselves yesterday in the middle of another, although less volatile, domestic violence case involving an organization player.

The latest scenario deals with 24-year-old Pawtucket Red Sox right-hander Derek Lowe who, it has been learned, was charged with fourth-degree domestic violence against his girlfriend last November in the Washington town of Federal Way, which is located between Tacoma and Seattle.

Boston obtained the 6-foot-6 Lowe, along with catcher Jason Varitek, from the Seattle Mariners at the July 31 midnight trading deadline for closer Heathcliff Slocumb.
