State University of New York at New Paltz Key development's under Poskanzer * The college opened a welcome center and the Center for Research, Regional Education and Outreach, to conduct and publicize research on regional topics. * The college received its first federal earmarks totaling $1.1 million. * Average annual fundraising increased by 39 percent. * New Paltz College Foundation purchased 42 acres contiguous to the southern end of the campus, where the college intends to build faculty, staff and student housing. The transaction has increased the size of the campus by more than 20 percent and given New Paltz a land bank for the next century. * Newsweek named New Paltz as the "Hottest Small State School" in the United States in 2008. * Freshman applications increased 61 percent, from 9,625 in 2001 to 15,500 in 2009.
