KISSIMMEE - Jon B. Morgan, a longtime Orange-Osceola assistant state attorney, will become a county judge on Oct 1.

Gov. Lawton Chiles announced Morgan's appointment this week to fill a vacancy created when Osceola County Judge Margaret Waller was elevated to the circuit court.

"He is extremely well-rounded in his legal experiences and I am confident that his expertise, strong commitment to public service and dedication to the legal profession will be an asset to Osceola County," Chiles said in a news release.
