Dr. Peter Greenwald, director of cancer prevention and control at the National Cancer Institute, agreed that cancer prevention should be encouraged but disagreed that any resources should be diverted from pursuing treatments. "I think we're making steady progress," he said. "There's still a ways to go. We're not claiming total success but we are making steady progress.
