Orlando, Fla.
Free-agent goalie John Vanbiesbrouck signed a 2-year, $7.25 million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. The Flyers hold a $3.5 million option for a third year on the contract. If they don't exercise the option, they'll have to pay Vanbiesbrouck $1.25 million. Vanbiesbrouck, 34, spent the last five seasons with the Florida Panthers and was a member of Team USA at the 1998 Winter Olympics. He was 18-29-11 with a 2.87 goals-against average in 60 regular-season games for the Panthers last season. Peter Warrick, Florida State's standout wide receiver, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence at a Tampa-area McDonald's. Warrick was released on $600 bond Monday morning. Neither charge is a felony. Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies said Warrick refused to leave the restaurant and shouted obscenities at the police, inciting a crowd. Three other men were charged at the scene. Warrick, 21, had eight touchdown receptions last season. [Kaci] Clark, Bustos propel Wahoos to 2-1 triumph over FireStix Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
