As a sideline to his mortgage-loan business, Michael Carr counsels clients overwhelmed by debt. Many are big-ticket splurgers now paying the price. But increasingly he's seeing clients overwhelmed from using plastic to cover everyday expenses. "They just see they've been approved for X amount of dollars," says Carr, owner of Financial Consultants of Central Florida in Kissimmee, "and are not aware that if they miss payments, certain things can happen to them."
