Abstract (Document Summary)

[DON ADAMS], the Bronx-born comic who won three Emmy Awards playing a bumbling secret agent on TV's "Get Smart," died yesterday of a lung infection at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 82.

The show ran on NBC from September 1965 to September 1969 and CBS from September 1969 to September 1970. Adams was nominated for Emmys four times, winning three in 1967, '68 and '69. During the show's run, he became famous for a handful of catchphrases, including: "Would you believe . . .?," "I asked you not to tell me that!" "Sorry about that, Chief!" and "Missed it by that much!"
