Abstract (Document Summary)

"My brother got rid of the Red Sox blanket my mom had bought him for Christmas," said Timothy Norton, the UConn hurler whom the Yanks snagged in the seventh round (and signed on Thursday). "I've always been a Red Sox fan. When Melky Cabrera made that catch the other night; that was the first time I've ever cheered for the Yankees against the Red Sox in my life."

"My girlfriend, but especially her dad, are Yankees fans," explains Ryan Kalish, whom Boston drafted in the ninth round. "It was brutal. She was like, 'I can't believe I have to wear a Red Sox hat now!" Kalish may luck out of his predicament, however, as it appears more likely he will attend Virginia in the fall than sign a contract with the Sox.
