Abstract (Document Summary)

In their new book, "The Myth of Monogamy," (W.H. Freeman, $24.95), husband and wife co-authors David Barash, a zoologist, and Judith Lipton, a psychiatrist, compare the sex lives of animals and humans and conclude that people may be biologically predisposed to fool around.

"Historically, there's been a fear of female sexuality, even female sexuality in other species," says Lipton. "The myth among biologists for so long was that infidelity was a male thing - but it takes two to tango."

Judith Eve Lipton and David P. Barash. Dr. Harvey E. Kaye and Dr. [Holly Hein].
