When Lindenhurst met Northport yesterday at Kienle Field, they not only went down to the closing minutes of the game, but fought like two boxers, slugging it out for four quarters before Northport came away with a 41-34 decision in a League II football game.
"[David Sumner] is the key," said Northport coach Kip Lukralle. "Lindenhurst and Northport are two very good teams, but we haven't shown what we are capable of."
That was where Northport showed what it was made of. Adam Gattuso ran for a 4-yard score, and then caught a 20-yard TD pass from Sumner. When [Craig Stanco] scored his second TD of the game on a 5-yard run, it was Lindenhurst that was left reeling, and trailing 41-23.
