[George Steinbrenner] said the Yankees' younger players - Roberto Kelly, Orestes Destrade, Jay Buhner and Hensley (Bam Bam) Meulens - are attracting the most interest from other clubs . . . Billy Martin reiterated his desire to improve the team's speed and said Kelly will be afforded every chance to win a regular job. He said he intends to use Rickey Henderson in leftfield . . . Martin officially named his coaching staff: Clete Boyer, third-base coach; Mike Ferraro, first-base coach; George Mitterwald, bullpen coach; Chris Chambliss, batting coach, and Art Fowler, pitching coach. Jeff Torborg has been shifted to "eye in the sky" and Stan Williams, the former "eye," will serve as major-league scout. Stump Merrill, Lou Piniella's first-base coach, has been offered a scouting position in the organization. Former batting coach Bobby Murcer is pursuing a broadcasting career.
