Lord & Taylor, the Fifth Avenue fashion retailer, plans to begin construction next month on a 120,000-square-foot store at the South Shore Mall in Bay Shore.
The arrival of the retailer, a unit of St. Louis-based May Department Stores Co., was announced yesterday by Islip Town Supervisor Pete McGowan. Officials of Lord & Taylor declined to comment, but Randy Smith of Los Angeles-based Westfield Corp., owner of the mall, confirmed the retailer's plans.
"I am elated to know that another high-quality retailer like Lord & Taylor has decided to locate here," said McGowan, adding that the company's decision "certainly reinforced our ongoing revitalization efforts."
