Then [Christina Sukhdeo], who was naked, taunted [Tarick Persaud] by telling him she had been secretly married to another man, that she hated Persaud, loved her new husband and couldn't wait to get back to him, he told court. Defence lawyer Liam O'Connor argued that Persaud was guilty only of manslaughter because he was provoked by Sukhdeo's taunts and never intended to kill her. By finding Persaud guilty of second-degree murder, the jurors showed they believed he had at some point formed the intention to kill, [Michael Waby] said in an interview.
