Until May 29, the Royal Botanical Gardens' Lilac Festival showcases the world's largest lilac collection with 800 species and cultivars. Daily activities include Lilac Collection Tours at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and the Discovery Cart, which explains how new lilac varieties are developed, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special weekend events (including Victoria Day Monday) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., include musical entertainment, children's crafts, an Auxiliary plant sale with hundreds of plant varieties available at great prices, and a marketplace with a selection of wares offered by vendors. The Arboretum also offers colourful displays of rhododendrons, flowering crabapples and native Ontario trees and shrubs.
