Cobourg, Ont.
Sitting in "the digital divide" between municipalities serviced by high speed internet connections, Cramahe Township has desired, but not acquired, broadband technology. Broadband is often brought into communities with large corporations or public sector organizations that will provide substantial revenues for broadband providers. That's not possible in Cramahe because of its small industrial base. Other factors have hindered extending the service from nearby communities. The nearest to Colborne is 11 km away. The Cramahe Township's Economic Development Commission (EDC) says lack of high speed internet access is hindering industrial and economic growth. In fact, lack of broadband access has deterred potential location in Cramahe Township , the EDC has determined. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
